Mid Century Mushroom Wall Plaque w/ Iron Chain by Ruscha, Bauhaus Series 70's #768 Handmade

    Ruscha-Keramik. ​Ruscha-Keramik was founded in 1905 by Georg Schardt and was originally named Klein & Schardt. The concern was established at Rheinbach. In 1948 his son Rudolf Schardt took over the business and called it Ruscha. Ruscha was one of the leading factories in the ‘golden age’ of the ceramics era. It manufactured masterpieces in both vases and wal tiles. In the 70s wall tiles were designed with distinct lava glazes. These beautiful expressive shapes were manufactured for both indoor and outdoor applications. In 1955 the firm employed 150 people and among them were 40 that worked at the decoration department. The most important designers were Cilli Wörsdörfer, she worked at Ruscha from 1952 until the end of 1954 (decors: Domino and Milano). Kurt Tschörner, he designed for Ruscha the jugvase '313' in 1954 and it was produced in numerous different decors until the end of the firm.
