Tugendhat Chair History

First produced by Knoll, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the late 1930's, in polished steel and leather.

Knoll stopped producing these chairs in 1948 and the Italian

"Right to Produce" them were held by several companies - most notably Alivar.

This 1990 version Alivar Tugendhat Chair features the original and RARE signature Barcelona Patchwork found in original designs.

In 2024 Knoll reintroduced their Tugendhat Chair for sale today and is available in fabric or leather.

Knoll offers the Barcelona Patchwork Leather Chair only by Special order in today’s market.
